01

The challenge

Onlewo is a Singapore design label built on the original artwork of local artist Mike Tay, whose designs celebrate the country’s heritage and culture and appear across gifts, home décor, fabrics, wallpaper, furniture and lifestyle accessories. A range that broad is the brand’s strength and its marketing challenge at the same time. The same design can be bought as a small keepsake, a set of home pieces or a feature wall, and shoppers arrive with very different intentions — someone looking for a meaningful Singapore gift, a homeowner wanting local character in a room, a company sourcing corporate gifts. Campaigns that treat them all alike pay for visitors who browse a few designs and leave, and the orders that do come through tend to stop at a single item rather than reflecting how much of a collection a shopper actually likes.

02

The objective

Grow online sales profitably. Success was defined in sales terms: a return on ad spend strong enough to justify putting more budget behind the campaigns, a store that converted a healthy share of the visitors that budget paid for, and larger baskets — shoppers taking a favourite design home in more than one form, or buying several gifts at once, so each order was worth more than the first item that caught their eye.

03

What we did

We ran performance campaigns across Meta and Google Shopping and Search, with a clear job for each channel. Meta carried discovery, with creative that showed the artwork on real products in real settings — on the table, on the wall, being given as a gift — so a new shopper could see what they were buying and who it was for before clicking through. Shopping and Search captured demand that already existed: searches for the brand by name, for Singapore-themed gifts and souvenirs, and for locally designed home décor, with the product feed kept accurate so spend followed what was actually in stock and leaned into the gifting periods when that demand peaks. Retargeting then followed product viewers and shoppers who had added to cart, bringing them back to the specific designs they had considered.

Underneath the paid work we strengthened SEO for the branded and gift-led searches the store should own, so a growing share of shoppers arrived without a media cost attached. On site, the website and conversion optimisation work made the collection easier to buy into: products grouped so a shopper who liked one design could see it across formats, complementary pieces placed beside the item being viewed, and product details and delivery information surfaced before checkout. Email and retargeting worked together after the first visit — abandoned-cart and browse follow-ups for undecided shoppers, and new-design and gifting-season updates for existing customers — to bring buyers back to complete and add to their orders.

The result

Over six to seven months the campaigns returned 3.5–5x on ad spend, the store converted 3.5% or more of its visitors, and average order value rose by 15–20% — more revenue from every order the campaigns brought in.
