Search “best AI SEO tools” and you get a list of forty products that have almost nothing in common. A rank tracker sits next to a blog-post generator, which sits next to a brand-mention monitor, which sits next to a site auditor. They are all filed under one label, and the label is doing an enormous amount of work.
That matters commercially, because the price range inside that one category runs from free to well over a thousand US dollars a month. If you buy the wrong type of tool you will pay for a product that cannot answer the question you actually have.
This guide sorts the category into four types, gives you a price table checked against vendor pricing pages on 3 August 2026, and is honest about what these tools can and cannot see. It is the practical companion to our guide to what GEO, AEO and LLM SEO actually mean and sits under our AI SEO guide for Singapore.
One thing to settle up front: no tool on this page will get you cited. Tools measure. The work that changes the outcome is content, technical health and reputation. A visibility tracker is a thermometer, not a treatment.
“AI SEO tool” means four different products
Before comparing anything, work out which of these four you are actually shopping for.
Most confusion in this market comes from people buying type 4 when they needed type 1, or buying type 1 when the free type 3 would have answered their question for another six months.
Type 1: AI visibility and citation trackers
This is the genuinely new product category, and the one people mean when they say “AI SEO tool” in 2026.
The mechanism is the same across every vendor. You give the tool a list of prompts — the questions you believe your customers ask. On a schedule, the tool sends those prompts to ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and others, reads the answers, and records whether your brand was named, which sources were cited, and which competitors appeared. Over time you get a share-of-voice figure and a prompt-level breakdown of where you are missing.
Almost everything that distinguishes one vendor from another comes down to four variables: how many prompts you can track, how many engines they cover, how often they run, and what analysis sits on top.
Verified pricing, checked 3 August 2026
All figures below are taken directly from vendor pricing pages on 3 August 2026 and are in US dollars. Singapore buyers should budget for 9% GST on imported digital services and for currency movement. Prices in this category have changed quickly — check before you commit.
| Tool | Entry price (monthly) | Prompts tracked | Engines covered | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.ai Lite | USD 29 | 15 | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, MS Copilot | Daily tracking, unlimited team members, one workspace |
| Otterly.ai Standard | USD 189 | 100 | Same four | Adds API access, MCP access, agent analytics |
| Otterly.ai Premium | USD 489 | 400 | Same four | Annual billing cuts these by 15% |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | USD 99 per domain | 25 (tracking) | Includes Google AI Mode and ChatGPT | Also 300 daily AI analysis queries, 1,000 prompt-research queries, AI Search checks on up to 100 pages |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar AI | From USD 199 | Custom prompts, tiered packages USD 50–250 | Multiple, plus a 271M-prompt research database | Sits alongside the main Ahrefs plans |
| SE Ranking Core | USD 129 (USD 103.20 annual) | 100 daily | AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, ChatGPT | Full SEO suite included; AI competitive research on 5 domains |
| SE Ranking Growth | USD 279 (USD 223.20 annual) | 250 daily | Same | 15 domains; AI Search add-on from USD 71.20/mo adds 450 prompts |
| Peec AI | Not published | Not published | Not published | Four tiers listed (Starter, Pro, Advanced, Enterprise); pricing requires contact |
A few things jump out of that table.
Prompt allowances are the real price. Otterly Lite at USD 29 gives you 15 prompts. SE Ranking Core at USD 129 gives you 100 daily prompts and a complete classic SEO suite. Compared on prompts-per-dollar those are very different propositions, and the cheap one is not obviously better value unless 15 prompts is genuinely all you need. For a single-location Singapore service business, 15 well-chosen prompts may cover the whole commercial question. For a multi-category e-commerce brand it will not come close.
Bundling changes the maths. Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit is USD 99 per domain as an add-on with 25 tracked prompts, but that limit rises automatically to 50, 100 or 200 prompts depending on which Semrush SEO tier you already hold, and the Semrush One bundles package the two together (Starter 50 prompts, Pro+ 100, Advanced 200). If you already pay for a suite, the marginal cost of AI tracking is much lower than the standalone number suggests. If you do not, you are buying two products.
Published prices are not universal. Peec AI lists four tiers with no public pricing. That is common at the enterprise end and it is not a red flag by itself, but it does mean you cannot compare it on this page — you have to take a sales call.
What these tools genuinely cannot tell you
This is the section most vendor comparisons skip, and it is the one that will save you money.
The outputs are non-deterministic. Ask ChatGPT the same question twice and you can get two different answers with two different sources. Every tracker in this category is therefore sampling a distribution, not reading a ranking. A single check tells you almost nothing; a trend over dozens of checks tells you something real. Treat any tool that reports a precise single-point “AI ranking” with suspicion, and be sceptical of week-on-week movements of a few percent.
Results are personalised and localised. What a tool sees from its infrastructure is not necessarily what a customer in Singapore sees on their phone while signed in to their Google account. Check that whichever tool you choose supports Singapore as a location, and understand that even then it is an approximation.
Coverage of Google’s AI surfaces is uneven. AI Overviews and AI Mode are the surfaces that matter most in Singapore, where Google holds about 92% of search. Not every tool covers both, and coverage changes. If you are buying for the Singapore market, this is the single most important feature question — more important than how many chatbots are on the list.
None of them measure revenue. A visibility tracker tells you that you were named. It cannot tell you that being named produced a customer. That link has to be made in your analytics, and it is genuinely hard: a large share of AI referrals arrive with no referrer and land in Direct, and traffic from AI Overviews is classified as Organic Search rather than as AI traffic. Our guide to setting up GA4 properly and the one on attribution models cover what is achievable.
Type 2: AI features inside the classic suites
Every major SEO platform has added an AI visibility module. The question is whether you should buy the suite for it.
Semrush’s main plans, billed annually, run from USD 117.33 a month for the SEO plan to USD 455.67 for Advanced, with Starter at USD 165.17 and Pro+ at USD 248.17. Ahrefs runs Starter at USD 29, Lite at USD 129, Standard at USD 249 and Advanced at USD 449, with Enterprise at USD 1,499 on an annual commitment. SE Ranking, as above, includes AI results tracking inside its Core and Growth plans rather than charging separately.
The honest read: if you already need a classic SEO suite for keyword research, backlink analysis and site auditing, buy the suite whose AI module you like and stop there. Running a full suite and a standalone visibility tracker is a common and usually unnecessary overlap at small-business scale. SE Ranking’s bundling is notably aggressive on this point; Semrush’s per-domain add-on is the model that most rewards you for already being a customer.
Type 3: the free stack, which most businesses under-use
Before spending anything, these four cost nothing and answer more than people expect.
- Google Search Console. The authoritative record of whether your pages are indexed at all — job one, and the most common silent failure. Impressions now include AI Overview appearances, undifferentiated from classic results, so treat impression growth without click growth as a signal worth investigating. Setting it up takes about fifteen minutes.
- GA4. Its native “AI Assistants” default channel captures arrivals from sources like ChatGPT, Gemini, Deepseek, Copilot and Grok, requiring the medium to match
ai-assistantand a referrer on Google’s maintained list. Read it knowing its two blind spots: AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic is explicitly excluded and classified as Organic Search, and referrals with no referrer land in Direct. - Bing Webmaster Tools. Free, and worth ten minutes given Bing’s role in some AI retrieval paths, even at 3.37% of Singapore search.
- Free vendor tools. Ahrefs offers a free plan for your own site plus a free AI visibility checker; Semrush’s free tier includes ten daily searches, up to five projects, site audits on 100 pages and ten tracked keywords. Both are limited by design, and both are enough to establish a baseline.
Type 4: AI content generators are not AI SEO tools
Worth stating plainly because the listicles conflate them. A tool that drafts blog posts is a writing tool. It does not measure your visibility, it does not audit your site, and buying one does not improve your standing in AI answers. It may well save you time — that is a real benefit and a separate purchase decision.
There is also a quality risk specific to this category. The GEO research found that the content characteristics associated with citation are statistics, cited sources and quoted authorities — precisely the things generic AI drafts lack unless you supply them. Publishing volume without those signals is not a visibility strategy.
Three stacks, by budget
Here is what we would actually recommend at three levels, based on the verified prices above. All figures are USD per month, before GST and currency conversion.
Baseline (USD 0). Search Console, GA4, Bing Webmaster Tools, the free vendor tiers, and a monthly manual prompt check you run yourself. For a business that has not yet fixed its indexing and content fundamentals, this is genuinely the correct answer. Spending on measurement while job one is broken is the most common waste we see.
Lean (about USD 29). The free stack plus Otterly Lite. Fifteen prompts, four engines including Google AI Overviews, tracked daily. Suitable for a single-location service business with a focused set of commercial questions. The constraint is real — choose those fifteen prompts carefully, and revisit them quarterly. If this is the tier you are weighing up, our companion guide to AI SEO tools for small businesses works through the decision in more detail, including when to stay on the free stack instead.
Standard (about USD 129). The free stack plus SE Ranking Core, or Semrush’s SEO plan with the AI Visibility Toolkit added. You get classic keyword and backlink tooling plus 100 daily tracked prompts across AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT. For most Singapore SMEs doing this seriously, this tier is the sensible landing spot.
Agency or multi-brand (USD 350+). Multiple domains, higher prompt volumes, API access for reporting into a client dashboard. Semrush Advanced, Ahrefs Standard or above, or Otterly Premium, usually in combination. At this level the deciding factors are API quality and multi-workspace handling, not headline features.
The USD 0 audit you can run this afternoon
Before you buy anything, do this. It takes about thirty minutes and it will tell you whether you need a tool at all.
- Write ten prompts your customers would actually type. Not keywords — questions. “Best commercial cleaning company in Singapore”, “how much does a company secretary cost in Singapore”, “is X worth it for a small business”. Mix category questions, comparison questions and problem questions.
- Run each one in four places: Google (note whether an AI Overview appears and who it cites), ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Use a fresh or logged-out session so your own history does not skew the result.
- Record three things per prompt: were you named, which competitors were named, and which sources were cited. A spreadsheet with prompt down the side and engine across the top is all you need.
- Run it twice, a few days apart. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that shows you how volatile these answers are.
- Read the cited sources, not just the names. This is where the real insight is. If four out of ten answers cite the same industry directory or forum thread, you have just found where your reputation is being built — and it is probably not your website.
If that exercise shows you are invisible across the board, your problem is content and reputation, and no subscription fixes it. If it shows you appearing inconsistently, you have something to track, and now a tool earns its fee.
A buying checklist
- Does it cover Google AI Overviews and AI Mode for Singapore? Non-negotiable here, given Google’s ~92% local share.
- How many prompts, and how often are they run? Compare on prompts, not on plan names.
- Does it show cited sources, or only whether you were mentioned? Sources are where the actionable insight lives.
- Can you export? If reporting matters, check CSV limits and API access before signing.
- Are you already paying for a suite? If so, price the add-on before buying a second product.
- Is there a trial? Note that some AI modules are excluded from a vendor’s standard trial.
And two red flags. First, any tool promising a “proprietary AI ranking score” without disclosing what it samples, how often, and against which engines — the credible vendors document this. Second, any vendor or agency implying that buying the tool improves your visibility. It measures. The improvement comes from the work our terminology guide sets out under retrieval, extraction and selection.
The short answer
Most Singapore businesses reading this should spend nothing this month. Run the free audit, fix what it exposes, and use Search Console and GA4 to establish a baseline. When you can articulate a specific question a tool would answer — “are we losing share of voice to a named competitor on our five money prompts?” — then buy the cheapest tool that answers it, which today is likely Otterly Lite at USD 29 or SE Ranking Core at USD 129 if you also need classic SEO tooling.
The businesses that win in AI answers are not the ones with the best dashboards. They are the ones with genuinely citable content, a technically clean site and a reputation that exists beyond their own domain. If you want help working out which of those you are short on, that is where our AI SEO service starts, inside the wider SEO programme. The case studies show what that has produced for other Singapore businesses.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI SEO tool in 2026?
There is no single best, because the category contains four different product types. If you mean an AI visibility tracker, the practical answer depends on scale: Otterly Lite at USD 29 a month for 15 prompts suits a focused single-location business, while SE Ranking Core at USD 129 gives 100 daily prompts plus a full classic SEO suite. If you already pay for Semrush, its AI Visibility Toolkit add-on at USD 99 per domain is usually cheaper than adding a separate product.
Do I need an AI SEO tool at all?
Probably not yet, if you have not first confirmed your pages are indexed and your content answers questions directly. Run the free thirty-minute audit described above. If you are invisible everywhere, a tool will only confirm that at a monthly cost. Buy one when you have a specific recurring question about share of voice against named competitors.
Are there free AI SEO tools?
Yes, with real limits. Google Search Console, GA4 and Bing Webmaster Tools are free and cover indexing and arrival traffic. Ahrefs offers a free plan for your own site plus a free AI visibility checker, and Semrush’s free tier includes ten daily searches, five projects, 100-page site audits and ten tracked keywords. Manual prompt testing across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google costs nothing but your time and is more informative than most people expect.
Why do these tools give different numbers for the same brand?
Because AI answers are non-deterministic and personalised. The same prompt can return different sources on consecutive runs, and each tool samples at a different frequency, from different infrastructure, with different location settings. Compare trends within one tool over time rather than absolute figures between tools, and be sceptical of small week-on-week movements.
Can an AI SEO tool get my business cited by ChatGPT?
No. Tools measure visibility; they do not create it. Citation comes from being retrievable, extractable and credible — technically clean pages, direct answers under question-shaped headings, original data, named authors and mentions on third-party sites. Any vendor implying the subscription itself lifts your visibility is misrepresenting the product.
Are AI SEO tool subscriptions claimable under PSG or other Singapore grants?
Generally no. Grant support is tied to specific pre-approved solutions rather than to arbitrary software subscriptions or ongoing retainers, and the business applies for and manages the grant itself. If a grant matters to your plans, check the current pre-approved list for the specific solution before assuming a tool qualifies, and treat any agency that offers to handle a grant application on your behalf with caution.
